Hmm maybe it's me but how do you find the attitude of the Americans on the main board?

A lot of them seem to be okay but there definitely seems to be a definite cultural difference going on.

I thought I was a fairly normal sort of person and gave a bit of advice to be basically told that my advice wasn't needed. So I asked then what was the point of having the thread in the getting started forum. It seems the OP was playing to her "audience" Huh?

I think I was then accused of being a creep. Umm I'm a middle aged mother of three........

I'm also in the low carb group and the clean eaters and they seem lovely and very helpful.

I saw the posts you are referring to. I thought there was fault on both sides, mostly overreacting/misunderstanding each other which is easy to do on the Internet without verbal and visual clues.


To be honest, the forums here are pretty tame compared to some (MSN or Yahoo chatrooms, anyone? :laugh: ).

If you find confrontation unpleasant, stick to the groups or people you enjoy. Personally, I like reading many different points of view - it helps to define what works for you and can teach you some very interesting things.

Thank you for replying. Maybe I should have just walked away but I was curious to see what was going to happen next.

I don't go on other chat forums - maybe that's just as well.

The confrontation didn't really upset me - I was just surprised that the OP didn't really want to hear any other interpretation of what she posted. I honestly thought she was having a dig at people who chose an alternate view to hers - maybe it was all a misunderstanding. I don't know. Which is why I asked here.

Personally I try to steer clear when it gets a bit heated Stick with your groups and nice people and mentally tell the others to go and get *&^%ed.

Thank you. It was probably just all a misunderstanding - and it probably got to me because I'm a bit stressed out about some real life stuff at the moment. (Long Story).
