Any instructors? Teaching tripod inversion

Hi!

I feel like tripod is an accessible inversion for a lot of the students I teach.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get them into tripod? I want everyone's neck to be safe!

The same way you would get them up for regular headstand, elbow balance, or handstand. Have to make sure they are strong enough first though.

I am not an instructor, but I recently heard it instructed in a way I liked. The instructor was saying to make sure that you are in fact making a triangle, that your head is in front of your hands, not alongside. HTH

When I was teaching myself how to do headstand, I actually found a supported headstand, with forearms on the ground, easier. I was able to put more weight into my forearms and lessen the load on my neck. It's easier to press up into a tripod headstand because you can push on the ground with your hands. But I found that with supported, as long as my hips were over my shoulder I had no problem just lifting one leg, and then the other, up into the air.
