Treadmill Training for 1st Half - Advice

I have run two 5Ks but started this week with training for my first half marathon coming up in May. I am, unfortunately, recovering from an SI joint injury and am restricted to the treadmill for the time being.

Any and all advice on how to get the best preparation that I can while being strapped to a machine instead of being out on the road would be extremely appreciated!

How long are you relegated to the t-mill for? A couple tips. Do everything you normally would. Dynamic stretches first, start slow, etc. You do want a bit of an incline on the mill. .5 or 1% is enough. The biggest difference is that when you run you end up slightly varying your pace for any number of reasons. The t-mill will chug along no mater what. There can be a tendency to get sloppy on your form (sub consciously) to vary your speed (i.e. you get a little tired). So try and keep some focus on good running form

    Good luck!
  • I ran a HM in Nov and did 75% of my training on the treadmill. I just followed the plan. I did my long runs outside though, the thought of being on a treadmill for 2 hours was a bit daunting, but one hour is fine! Good luck :)
