I like playing with numbers, but this time I don't really like the results :). So sharing them with knowledgeable people for some insight.

December 1-29:
Average cal intake/day - 2203
Average cal burned/day - 235
Total cal intake 63899

December 1 weight 175.3lbs (this was my lowest, just for a day, so my calculations I used 177lbs - average for the first week od December)
December 30 weight 182.9 (the highest for 1 day, for calculations used 182). And this is not an overnight gain, it's gone up slowly.

I gained 5lbs in 29 days
5x3500=17500 - surplus needed to gain 5lbs

According to Scooby's calculator my TDEE is 2178 (I chose 1-3hrs light exercise activity level. I lift 3 times a week and walk 30-90 minutes 3 times. I run just 3 times in December because of weather)

(2178x29)+17500=80662 calories I had to consume (theoretically) to gain 5lbs

Actually consumed 63899

80662-63899=16763/29=578cal/day

So by my calculations I consumed 578 calories more a day then I logged.....
Is that possible?? I use a digital scale for most foods. I know I can be off by 100-150, but 578 seems a little too much.

What do you think?

ETA: Average carbs 239g
fat 78g
protein 143g

Remember the TDEE calculator is just an estimate. It could be that your actual TDEE is a couple of hundred lower, combined with underestimating your calories by a couple of hundred, rather than the error solely coming from your logging.

Do you normally run more and eat the same amount of food?

Scoobyworkshop uses the Harris-Benedict formula which calculates a higher TDEE/BMR than Katch-McArdle or Mifflin-St Joer.

You can use this website to calculate the others if you know your bf%
