I grew up withing a 30 mile radius of a nuclear power plant and when I had my surgery, my surgeon compared it to pictures he has seen from people who were affected by Chernobyl. Wondering if anyone else diagnosed lived around this power plants? There are lots of cancers in my hometown and it's a well known fact that the tanks leak into our ground water

I've been wondering the same thing about fertility treatments. A few people have suggested to me that an inordinate number of people who go through fertility treatments have thyroid cancer. My doctor said no, the cancer is too slow growing for that to have been a factor (though mine was apparently "jumping the sack" at the point of surgery so I'm glad I didn't wait). She said that thyroid cancer numbers are on the rise because of the increased awareness and frequency of checks. We don't just wait for it to kill old people any more.
I nearly drove myself crazy in those first few months considering this question. Supposedly my house has radon (not sure how that's possible considering the bedrock, but we were forced to mitigate anyway) but it was mitigated within our first year there, 6 years ago. I grew up in a microwave and tupperware family. We don't eat our veggies. I use to work outside and used A LOT of bug spray. Without a solid smoking gun (nuclear power plant's a good one), I settled on blaming my family and the genetic hand I was dealt.0 -
ya there really are so many more diagnoses being made about this cancer and the popularity of it with certain actresses is annoying to me for some reason. The why I let go of a long time ago, but I worry for my girls who still live in the same town. Out of all my family members my mom and I are the only ones to ever be diagnosed with cancer and she passed away. Just one of those questions that make you go hmmmmm. lol0

I have asked the same questions. I don't think they really know how or why0
