Hello Everyone! We are into day three of our challenge, and by looking at all of the workouts and discussion replies, things are going pretty well for everyone it that area!!! However, we probably all know that working out is less than half the battle.

Yes, that's right, we have to try to get our nutrition in check. Most of the research out there affirms that fitness vs. nutrition is 70 vs. 30 or even 80 vs. 20. This means we can pound the floor and lift tons ( most likely injuring something or experiencing extreme fatigue), but if we don't watch the types of foods we put in our body, it is all for null!

If you are doing a Beachbody fitness program, then it probably came with a nutrition guide. If so, have you tried it? What do you like? Dislike? If you are not doing a Beachbody program, what are you using to plan your meals?

With all of that said:laugh: , copy and paste the link below to access a GREAT article from Women's Health Magazine, to spur our discussion during this challenge. What do you think about this article? Which habits do you already have in place? Which ones can you live without? Which ones might you commit to during our challenge? Looking forward to a good discussion!:flowerforyou:

Thank you for bringing that article on habits of successful people to my attention.I think that because I do exercise it could be easy to get into the habit of thinking "well I exercised hard today I can eat a little extra or can have this super high calorie food because I am going to burn it off." But I keep reading here on MFP,"you cannot out exercise a bad diet, and there's no such thing as spot reducing."

I do incorporate some of the successful habits, such as keeping junk food out of the house. I usually keep it in the trunk of my husbands car or in the oven that does not work. Out of sight out of mind really works for me :-) Another thing that I do is eat the same foods every day. If you look into my diary I think you'll be able to see that. I also know that I'm going to have three servings of vegetables and two of fruit and 16 ounces of soy milk every day. Those things stay the same. I do not deny myself chocolate or chips when I crave them -but I only eat a square or two of dark chocolate or a small bag of chips. I do find when I deny myself it leads to a binge.

My challenge will be to eat meals at regularly scheduled times and to go to bed on a empty stomach. That's what I have to work on the most.

Hello there!! Angela, thank you for the article!!!

It makes me happy to see that I am and have at different points in my life followed these 10 habits. They are so true because the moment I derail that is when I see weight gain. I can tell you that lately I've felt so much energy, mental clarity, that I feel sooo good. I am starting to suspect that wheat and dairy really affect me. I have cut it out since the 1st of Jan and I already feel better. It is a process and I'll see where it takes me.

    Have a great day!!! :flowerforyou:

You are so welcome! One thing that I am doing during this challenge is researching best practices when it comes to fitness training, nutrition, and fat-loss. I had the same misconception as you, about working more to eat more! Now, I have an entirely new approach.
That's a great strategy you use to keep the junk food out of you site.
I was really surprised how eating 5 to 6 times decreases the amount that I want to eat. I believe I have more energy as a result.

Keep Calm and 90-Day Fitness & Nutrition Challenge On!!!

Hi Annette! You are welcome! My plan is to research as much as possible during this challenge, to build a toolbox of good, motivating information to sustain us for 90 Days. I am glad that you see a difference in your energy with a change in nutrition. We can all use more energy. I noticed an increase in my overall energy this week. I have not felt that 3pm slug. I have dairy and wheat, but only occasionally, which makes me remember this great blog that I will share in the next post. Thanks for sharing!
