Help with food and portion control

I have been using frozen meals to train my brain correct portion sizes. I often end up eating 2 portions, or choosing meals with too much sodium. I prefer eating meals I make myself, but I'd eat a lot more of it. That said, I'd like to enjoy what I eat and not be hungry. I wanted to know a list of really great tasting, low calorie, low sodium foods that fill you up.

I would look at your consumption of green vegetables and fruit (especially vegetables, lots of them). I'd keep protein moderate to high for satiety reasons as well.

So for example when I'm cutting I'll regularly make tilapia and broccoli. And large quantities of it, and it doesn't put a big dent in my calorie budget.

I think one skill to develop while you are working on proper portion sizes, is the ability to prepare foods to make them tasty without adding many calories. I'll use just a little butter or cooking spray, and quite a bit of various seasonings. That being said, I don't monitor sodium so without that restriction it's pretty easy to make tasty food.

I just wanted to give you an update on your advice.

The sodium concern was due to borderline high BP. It is now in the normal range!! I bought some new seasonings and use less salt in conjunction with them.

I'm on a "cheat" day after weighing in. Down 8 lbs since Jan 1, now 222.6. Per your suggestion, I noticed today that I chose single portions of what I was eating, and not really in the mood to go "all out" and stuff myself.

Vegetables help with fullness, and I tend to eat large portions of veggies.

Not sure how I want to proceed. I want to be tight and toned - not baggy. But then again, I have a lot of weight to lose. Should I slow down?
