Yoga mat

Hi all,
I was just curious what yoga mats you all use for DDP yoga? I started doing DDP yoga of week or two ago and it kills my knees when I have to get on them every now and then. I bought my yoga mat at Five Below store so that could be the problem. On the DDP website they recommend a Manduka yoga mat ( clearly they are a sponsor) but I really don't want to spend that much money for a yoga mat. They were going for $70 to $100. I don't want to stop doing DDP Yoga but I've stopped until I can find another yoga mat because it's been killing my knees which is been making it difficult to get through the Energy work out. Do any of you have any recommendations? I was at ****'s Sporting Goods today looking at some in stock.

I have some days where my knees play up more than others.
I just fold up my towel and put it under my knees for a bit more cushioning when I need it.
I also have knee pads that I use when I dance for floorwork and sometime I'll put those on too - they shouldn't be too expensive if you want to invest in a pair of dance pads instead (I would advise dance ones as they are flexible to allow you to move while you have them on).
I don't think it would be advisable to get a more cushioned yoga mat as you don't want to be "sinking" into it, you need a firm base.0 -
I use a Manduka - but I got mine off of amazon. I didn't get the black Pro series - but the Eco series and I think it was in the $40-50 range. Stephie's knee pad idea is also a good one. Good luck!0

The workouts bothered my knees at first (it didn't help that I have a hardwood floor), but my knees got used to it over time. I don't even feel it anymore (I imagine that dropping weight helped with that, as well).0

They have a really nice 1/2" thick mat at black mountain products for $250

I know a lot of people in my yoga class who just layer two mats, so you could just buy another cheap one and do that. Sometimes I fold the side of my mat under my knee if it is bothering me.
Edited for typo.0
