Always good to slowly increase calories?

I did a short bulk from August to October. Eating 300-350 calories above my MFP maintenance level has worked well.
Then I started again around Christmas. But on New Year's I got sick from food poisoning and stopped tracking calories for a week. I probably ate 500-1000 less during this time but stopped logging b/c I didn't want to know the exact number or think about food while I was sick. So I've got a bit of a deficit after a week of this. I'm almost back to normal now in terms of feeling better.
Is it really necessary to "reverse diet" after just one week to get back to where I was? I was thinking of eating slightly above maintenance for a few days (say 75 cal, unless I feel like I'm still hungry and want more). And then upping it every few days. I think it can be done pretty quickly in this case, and is really based on how I feel.
Thoughts?

Neither would I, thanks for the experienced opinion. Going to break up my food into more meal blocks.0
