Lost Weight First Week of Reset?

I tried to google it, but I'm just getting useless stuff in the results >.>

Basically I just finished week 1 of my metabolism reset I am working on. It was an interesting week and I learned that when I am not logging like a hawk, I severely over estimate the things I eat and probably why I ended up back in my current situation after I got lazy on logging -_- I also manage macros horribly, but everything in its time I guess.

Anyway, I know it has been only 1 week, but I'm wondering if it is normal/happens to lose weight in the beginning when starting? Or if I need to re-figure my TDEE. I lost 3.4 lbs this week (I don't have visits from aunt Flo, so I can't know if that was a reason or not). I pretty much got 3 different numbers when using the EM2LW eBook guide, the IPOARM spreadsheet and MFP. Those numbers together average out to 1966 which is what I decided to use (it seemed safe XD). This week my calories consumed was 1952, a little under, but I doubt that little calories makes much of a difference.

I also do little to no exercise as I often sit on my butt at the computer and have some major abdominal pains going on (my general doctor sent me to the ER Thursday and they suggest I see a gastroenterologist), so outside of housework and walking every where (I don't have a car), plus the 4 flights of stairs in my building about 4 times a day, I'm pretty much doing nothing. So that might explain why MFP gives me numbers really close to the other 2 calculations.

Exercise is something I really want to fit in, but I'll get to it in time as my body allows -_-

So yeah, just asking if it is normal/happens sometimes or if I should re-calculate. For now I think I will just give it another week and see what happens I guess.

That's not uncommon, but not the norm! Everyone would love that nice surprise! I would give it another week. You could, in the mean time, just recheck your calculations. What made you decide to do a reset?

I went quite a few years eating between 1200 -1400 cals and stopped losing weight and then started gaining. I picked up with MFP and did 1200 for like a week, then tried IPOARM but went straight to the TDEE -15% which worked for a little while and then I stopped logging again and starting eating barely anything again and regained. I can never keep weight off, I go up and down up and down it is annoying.

Because I'm never stable, I figure it is probably best to do a reset (start fresh) and then go to the IPOARM and EM2LW method and avoid the laziness of not logging. It gets hard because I have to add almost all my food since I live in France.. but when I stop it ends bad :/

Many times if you've had a steep deficit, and finally get a carb refeed or alcohol, you'll get a big retained water weight drop.

Depending on amount of exercise and type done, body may now start storing some carbs it's been itching to have, so some water may come back.

Watch for things like warmer, better skin, more energy during the day, ect too.
