Today's saying is interesting for me. I've had a few people (both in real life & on my MFP friends list) tell me over the past several months that I'm an inspiration, and I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand I'm really happy to see my friends getting healthier because they've been inspired by what I'm doing and have made changes in their own lives. On the flip side I have one relative who says she's inspired, but from her comments I can tell she doesn't understand at all the amount of effort that it takes. She wants the results I've had, but she wants it to come easily. It took me a year to get to where I am (and probably another year to get to where I want to end up), but she wants to be there next week. I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to support & encourage her without killing her in the process. We've done several weight loss & fitness challenges together over the years and she always starts out enthusiastically, but then is very quick to make excuses. If you don't want to do the work, don't do it, but then own that instead of trying to blame it on anything except the fact that you just didn't want to put in the effort. You don't get to say you're "jealous" of my results without understanding the blood, sweat & tears I put into it. (Okay not a lot of bleeding but I've had some spectacular bruises.)

13Strong your foot sounds painful. Now I can't remember - did you get it checked out by a doctor? You probably should if you haven't already, especially if it's turning black & blue.

Sherry I think it would be smart to roll your home workout into your gym workout if you have the time. That's time you've already dedicated to working out, so might as well get it all done then. If you have time at home to do some bonus stuff, all the better, but the pressure is off to get stuff done in the evening if you've already taken care of it at the gym.

Today I've got a trainer session, and I'll need to run either today or tomorrow. This sinus infection is still kind of kicking my butt but I'm on day 4 of antibiotics and it finally feels like the congestion in my head is starting to break up.

Laura, how interesting it must be for you to go through this transformation with others watching (I'm going so slow, and live away from all my family, so my efforts go mostly unnoticed except for my husband). I think the message to "Be an inspiration" is that you can inspire by your actions ... rather than your results. But of course it's the great results that everyone drools over and wants for themselves, but like you said, you have to put in the effort. And NO they most certainly don't get to be jealous of your results without putting in the blood, sweat, and tears! (At the moment, I have a nasty bruise on my leg and a black toenail that peeled off...only to reveal a fresh ALSO black new toenail underneath. lol. Creeps my husband out!) Also, hope you're starting to feel better.

13strong, yeah, you might want to get that checked out and if it happened at work, definitely. Hope you get it straightened out.

Tim, you know I've never even looked into the SL intermediate program (I guess I gotta crawl before I walk, etc, etc), so I don't know much about it, but I'm sure it's a really solid program like the 5x5, for when you're ready to change it up. That's great.

Donna, way to get in some activity with your dogs! I don't envy the snow (even though there is something nice about one good snowstorm each year, when everything gets white and calm and quiet).

Today I was very tempted to go to the gym, but I managed to talk my husband out of his comfort zone for a visit to the coast/beach and took the opportunity to bask in the sun. My poor son had homework and had to go to the tutor, so me & DH & lil girl dropped him off and took the tram to a playground by the beach. It was soooo nice. To demonstrate how warm it was today, there were people swimming (couldn't tell if they had wetsuit or are just crazy, lol), a guy running shirtless in shorts, a guy playing beach racquet in a speedo and t-shirt. Lots of people playing beach racquet in shorts and t-shirt, and lots of normal people like us in lightweight hoodies out for a walk. Unbelievable!! So nice outside today and we have to take advantage before some rain sets in soon. So today was a rest day, which is pretty normal after gym1, gym2, and run days. I think Laura is right that I need to tack on my abs & glutes to my gym workouts and that's what I plan to do. Guess I'll just put glutes with legs & back and put abs with chest, shoulders, arms and use the machines at the gym and/or dumbbells. Who knows, maybe I'll finally even hit some squats at the gym (haha, these things take me so long to find my courage).

    Happy Hump Day e'rybody!

today did my own workout jumping jacks, push ups, sit-ups, squats, and planks. I need to get back in gear! I need more sweat. Not sure what my work out issue - since I was sick. Haven't been stuck at this weight for this long since I started. But I am maintaining.

Didn't happen at work, happened barefoot at home. I was tired and took a corner at home too sharp, too fast and rammed my foot into the wall.

I ended up taking photos of it and sent it to my friends who are nurses and a doctor and I've gotten the award for most awkward sprain from nearly all of them. There's nothing beyond ice and wrapping they would do since it isn't broke (doesn't hurt enough to be broken), but the bruising is pretty nasty and some swelling...But it's getting better, slowly! :)

I honestly didn't think I hit that wall as hard as I must have or any different from the other times I've stubbed my toe or whacked a body part. My body-eye-movement coordination has never been very good.

I'm going to take it easy on it until all the bruises go away. Maybe I can do situps or arm weights.... (Anyone got any weight off feet exercise ideas?)

In other news, windchill is -30 here today and we had a lot of fun trying to unfreeze pipes at work. Hopefully we'll be getting closer to spring here soon!
