Hi - trying this again

I just joined your group - I'm 61. I belonged to MFP a few years ago and did well, but I am finding myself putting weight back on and not motivated. So I'm back. They have made quite a few changes to the site - it is pretty nice. I have had two knee replacements, thumb joint replacements and have severe osteo arthritis. So - exercising is hard, but I try. Currently recovering from foot surgery and hope to be released to start walking again in two weeks. I am looking forward to loosing weight again and keeping it off. Retirement is just around the corner and I want to be fit enough to do the things I have dreamed of.

Hello - we have a fair amount in common - I've had one knee replaced, am waiting on another (have to lose weight first), lost a lot of weight, but gained 1/2 of it back (long story), am trying this again.
I am totally sick of logging things - I have done it for years, but I demonstrated to myself, and everyone that knows me, that not logging allows me to enter denial about how much I am eating.
My last child is graduating college this May and I am toying with the idea of quitting my full time job and looking for something parttime. I want more time in the gym, around the house and less stress. My son (he is the 3rd to graduate) will be living at home after college for a year or two while he gets his Masters (save a few bucks on his loans and another chance to drive his mom nuts). Just kidding. We pay for the first 4 years, but graduate school is on them ( I have two previously graduated children)
You can do this - we all can, but it is a matter of determination and not giving up when we stumble. I read a lot of success stories here and in other places and they keep me inspired. They all have the same theme. It is a matter of not giving up, realizing it will take a while (although I always laugh when they say it took a while to gain it....it took me no time at all to put back on the weight). We cannot demand perfection of ourselves only to give up. I have a little scrap of paper I printed out hanging over my desk that says: If you are tired of starting over, stop giving up. Too true.
Good luck with your foot surgery recovery. That is next on my list for, ick, a bunion on my right foot. But I am not doing that until I get to spend some time in the gym with two non painful, but fake, knees. It will be bliss! One final thing...I had no idea they could replace a thumb joint! That is amazing! Take Care and stay in touch. You can add me as a friend if you like and we can commiserate about osteoarthritis.
Finally, keep trying to get some exercise...even if it is just crunches on a ball, or using bands while sitting. I know, I probably wouldn't do it either, but it is an option!0
