Found this on a different public MFP thread, an interesting article on the possible rise of a plant-based diet...

A plant-based diet makes so much sense from economics, environmental, and philosophical standpoints. I think with the rise of documentaries like Blackfish and The Cove, people are starting to realize that animals are a lot more intelligent than they thought and it will only be a matter of time before that perception of intelligence extends to farm animals. Plus environmentally, eating meat is just disastrous compared to eating plants, and our planet needs all the environmental help it can get.0
