Yoga daily?

I am fairly new to yoga. I have always done mostly cardio with some weight training. I started yoga because of running injuries. Basically a way to keep doing something. My routine with cardio was always taking two days off in a row mid week. They are my hardest days to get a work out in, unless I get up very early. So this is how I approached my yoga.

I cannot believe how much I miss and can tell I have missed on those two days. I feel all tense and tight by day two. It makes me wonder if I hold myself differently on yoga days, or is it just the meditative type breathing. Is yoga something most people do every day? I might just have to get my butt up early for it!

I try to do some every day. Even if it's just 15 min of sun salutations just to loosen up my tight back. My back is always tight but if I skip too much yoga it gets to the point I can hardly bend over at all. Yoga has saved me so much money on massage and physiotherapy.

There are lots,of quick yoga routines online. I've even seen ones you can do in bed before getting up lol.
  • I started yoga for the exact same reason as you - running injuries.

In the day before my twins were born I would practice three-four times a week, including one class. I had a big break when my twins arrived - life overtook me and out of all the things I was looking forward to welcoming back, yoga came before sleep, a balanced diet and everything!

I've only just gotten back into a regular practice but my idea scenario is to alternate days of running and yoga.

I do yoga everyday. Many people in this group do. I will occasionally take a day off either because of time constraints or I've hurt myself.
For me, during the times I don't do yoga (say on vacation with someone who doesn't do yoga), I get more easily stressed. I miss the openness and focus it gives me. In fact, when traveling with my mom last summer, I went to a class about half way through our trip. My mom even noticed the difference in my face. She said I looked much happier when I got out of class.
I think this is true for any type of exercise to some degree. If I don't get my walk in, I'm a bit grumpy. There is something different about a yoga practice though. I think it combines meditation and movement, so you get the benefits of both.
