Sitting Overhead Press

My husband and I have just started the stronglifts 5x5 program.
Due to my husband's height (6'4) and the fact that we are lifting at home in our basement, I believe the over head press will be a problem for him.
Is it possible to perform this move sitting and if so, could anyone recommend a resource on proper form?
Thanks in advance for help!

You can do a sitting over head press on a chair or bench. Depending on how heavy he wants to lift, he might require a rack. But I can personally handle 75lb individual dumbbells without a rack. But a straight bar with 45lb plates gets cumbersome with a rack behind me0

The only issue with doing the Overhead Press sitting is that you are not engaging your core completely. And if you are using something that has back support that makes it even easier.
If you have no choice due to space limitations then i'd recommend not to use back support while sitting to engage as much of your core as possible.
Again this is only if you are wanting to do the overhead press as a compound exercise. It's not wrong to do it sitting with or without back support but the concept behind doing the 4 main lifts a specific way is it will be a compound exercise and engage your core.0 -
Thank you both very much for your feedback.
He completed his lifts today pretty easily sitting, but I am sure once he starts lifting heavier, it will become much harder.0
