I found this pretty interesting, mostly because I found that I experienced a lot of the issues mentioned when I tried to stay low carb whle being paleo. Of course I don't agree with the comments about inflammatory foods, or wheat. I do think some people can tolerate wheat/grains just fine, I'm not one of them tough.
But, I definitely can't tolerate super low carb. I tend to eat a moderate carb diet. Around 25-40% carbs most of the time.

One thing I didn't like about the article is the "low" carb studies on working out and stress hormones, etc., didn't appear to be long term. I have no doubt when I first reduced my carbs I had out of whack hormones -- I was sluggish for two weeks. But not anymore. I mean, one study was 3 days after cutting carbs. Uh...
I actually don't have a problem with carbs. I started this "diet" because I was tired of always being hungry. I also craved a lot of sweets and tended to be tired/groggy after eating. I still eat a moderate carb diet. It just all comes from fruit, veggies, and sweet potatos now. Which means, for me, it's hard to get above 100 grams. 150 is a high day.0 -
For people who are healthy with no metabolic issues (I don't know anyone like that personally-maybe you?) low carb (as I define it) is not necessary. However, I have much difficulty agreeing that anyone should be eating 300 grams of carbs and more.
I can speak from experience that ONLY a ketogenic version of this lifestyle resolved most of my health problems, most notably binge eating disorder, bipolar disorder, severe anxiety, and many others.
Very low carb is often an eating plan that does not have to be followed forever. However, the caveat on that is that few people need/should be eating much over 100 grams and that would still be considered "low carb" by SAD standards.
You seem to take issue with this lifestyle, and it wasn't a fit for you, but I assure you it has been life-saving for some of us.0 -
Oh yeah, 150 would be a high day for me too and usually a day where I make a tapioca pizza or some Brazilian Cheese bread....mmmm.
I also dislike short term studies, they need to look at 6 months to a year at a minimum.
If you look at the link in the article to the portion guidelines, it is going to end up as a moderate carb diet, probably similar to what I eat now. So, at least they aren't pushing the high carb diet that the government shoves down our throats.

I do best also with a ketogenic lifestyle. My endocrine and metabolic systems are messed up.
I am focused, no bi-polar symptoms, losing weight again and staying full (which is good because I am working and going to school which makes me extremely busy).
I am back to working on my hormones due to PCOS, T2Diabetes, Hypo-thyroidism, adrenal issues and a very slowly shrinking pituitary tumor.0
