Running on sand

Hey all,
I've signed up for a 24km race which is a mixture of trail and sand (half the track is along the beach) and it's all flat.
With only 5 weeks till race day i'm just about to write up a training schedule but i'm wondering how many of my runs per week should be on the beach? Should i do the long slow runs on the beach and the faster short ones on the trails?
