Hello!

Does anybody have good lightweight rain jacket recommendations?

Thank you!

The jackets I have are water resistant, but not water-proof. I have a New Balance light weight jacket and the Pearl Izumi Elite Convertable. Both are pretty good when you layer properly. I personally favor the Pearl jacket, as the sleeves zip off which is great if it stops raining or if I get hot. Both retain body heat pretty well.

As far as actual rain jackets, Runner's World has a good write up on them.

I went to Bass Pro Shops to find mine.

Since I'm a cheap b*stard, I can't bring myself to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on goretex.

I ended up getting an Ascend Water Shield 2.0 Jacket for $80.

I got the one that is blue and green which I felt would be suitable for contrast whether there was snow on the ground or not.
I'm pretty sure they have female versions which apart from the change in colors will be better form fitting. Unfortunately, the only 2-tone they have for womens is grey/white.

What I really like about this jacket is...
    1) detachable hood. And hood folds over easy to adjust if you're wearing additional headgear.
    2) waterproof pockets left and right is big enough for gloves.
    3) a waterproof chest pocket is big enough for ID, key, emergency money or money clip
    4) this will hold heat well for cold weather, and breathes a little.
    5) zipper allows zipping from top and bottom, which is great since I wear one of those nathan waist pouches to keep my phone
    6) wrists have velcro tightening to help seal in heat

What I dont like about the jacket...
    1) it doesn't have detachable sleeves - so far this hasn't been a problem for me, but it might be an issue for longer runs. I'm training for a 50k which will have a drop at 16 miles so worst case if I started with the jacket, I'd just lose it there.

I would strongly encourage you to goto the stores (running stores, REI, Bass Pro Shops and other outdoor gear shops) and try on a variety of jackets.
