Going Backwards

Not literally... ha ha.
Yesterday was workout B5. Last time I did the dumbbell shoulder press I breezed through 12 reps holding 15 lbs in each arm. I was sure I could do 10 reps holding 20 lbs. I failed after 8 reps. So I went back to 15 lbs, and guess what? I couldn't finish any set. The next one I got to 9, and on the third to 8!
I literally could not move my arms even one inch!
My guess is that I was a bit hungry before going to the gym, so possibly I didn't have enough energy.

Coincidentally, I just received a motivational email from my gym (it's a privately owned gym so they do this all the time) and in it there were some quotes and this one stood out in particular:

The only bad workout is the one that didn't happen. - unknown

So, after last night's disappointment I am happy to read this line because I am still moving forward, and my *kitten* really hurts this morning from the dead-lift or lunges.

Good for you that you are pushing yourself and busting through your ceiling of self-doubt! You may be experiencing neural fatigue, something even the best athletes experience.
