Drinking Diet Soda During Prep

I have heard from several people that during their prep they are drinking all of the diet soda they want as long as they still get their required water intake for the day! It sounds so crazy to me but after a bit of research it seems to be a pretty common thing. Any of you bikini ladies out there drink diet soda during your prep? I am not in prep currently but am looking to start pretty soon. My problem is that I am ADDICTED to Dr. Pepper. It would be so amazing to find an alternative during prep to keep my cravings away.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!!

    The Zevia brand (sweetened with stevia) has a dr. pepper imitation. Zero calories, might be worth a look.

    My coach, who coached a number of figure and bikini girls, allowed us to have diet pop. We cut it out the last 4 weeks though.

    One of the other girls competing with me had a different coach and she was not allowed to have an artifical sweeteners, even stevia and such. She swore that she didn't have the sugar cravings she used to.

    FWIW, I drank diet pop and used sweeteners (until the last 4 weeks as noted) and didn't have an issue with sugar cravings.

    I found that drinking diet soda saved me from cheating with the real deal! I did cut it out the last couple of weeks to avoid bloating and all of the other digestive issues that could arise with artificial sweeteners. I know that there is a lot of controversy with the chemical-loaded, processed sweeteners, but I haven't sprouted an extra limb just yet. ;) My advice... do what you need to do to stay sane, contest prep is hard enough!
