Walk/Run Intervals?

Hello,
I have recently got back into myfitnesspal and working out after reaching my highest weight yet (228 lbs). I started doing my own version of Intervals at the gym and I was wondering how good my exercise plan is for losing weight (particularly fat).
I try to workout at least 5 days a week. I do 40 minute work outs (NOT including the warm up or cool down) and I do...medium intensity intervals. I walk for one minute at 3.6-3.8 mph, run for one minute at 5.0mph for about 15 minutes, then I walk for 5-10 minutes at 3.5mph-3.8mph, and then I either finish it up with a walk a minute at 3.6-3.8mph, run 30 seconds for 5.0mph or I walk on an incline for the last ten minutes at 3.6-3.8mph.
I also try to mix in strength training twice a week. On those days I only do my Intervals for about 20-30 minutes. I am also thinking about making my sixth day of working out just walking briskly for 45 minutes. I'm getting off topic, but anyways, is this effective?
I also noticed that the second day I did the intervals, I could barely get through them like the first day. I was out of breath quicker. could I be wearing my body out too quickly?
I am 17, almost 18, female, 5'4" and 219 pounds. Please reply as I would love as much feedback as possible from any and all users! (:

Are you trying to do a C25K type plan where you gradually build running endurance? Or is your purpose in doing the intervals more in hopes to burn fat like HIIT?0

Temporarily locking this thread as the main site is 18 and up. While this is a private group, my understanding is that we still operate under that umbrella in that advising a minor is a no-go. Sorry OP!
If I find out otherwise I'll unlock this thread.0
