The reading talks about trusting the program and meetings. I trust the OA process, but don’t get caught up in other people’s agendas when it comes to program work. When I first got into the program I worked with a sponsor with over 40 years abstinence. I soon realized that this sponsor and I did not mesh, not because I was unwilling to do the work, but because she had unreasonable demands that was not in the scope of the OA program and as a newcomer, I thought it was the norm. A sponsor is there to help you through the steps and with the OA program, period, not dictate how you live your life. I’m not knocking sponsors because I am one. And I don’t claim to know it all and be absent of life’s issues, but I do know about the steps and how to apply them to everyday life.
