“Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.”
“For today: I cannot will myself to have peace of mind, but I can re-examine my priorities. Am I putting enough time and effort into activities that nurture my spirit?”

This was read in a meeting this morning, and it resonated with me so much! I have been re-evaluating my priorities in life. I have a blessed life, a great job, a great home, and a wonderful family, but since working the steps a few years ago, I’ve realized that the “American dream” could no longer fulfill me. I had to dig deep and figure out what my destiny looked like. As a youngster I was always fascinated with the high desert, surrounded by trees and wildlife. My family does not understand why I prefer this type of living and can’t picture me living out of the city, but it’s something that I am putting into motion. Had I not started to work on my inner self through the OA program, I would never have been able to make such a leap.

I like that sentence. Nothing can bring me peace but myself. Not food, not money, not a bigger house, or a cleaner house, etc. I have tried to find peace in my surroundings and from my stuff. I was looking outside to find it when I need to look inside.
