So hungry

Alright, I'm starving. I'm not sure what I should do exactly. I have been doing steady state cardio for 45 minutes 5x a week for 14 weeks. I added in weight training three weeks ago which I do about 4 days a week. I've noticed since last week I am so hungry. I'm eating 1800 calories a day and I have been doing low carb/high fat/moderate protein for 6 months. I'm also keeping my water intake pretty high at about a gallon a day. Is this increased hunger from adding in weights? Should I tweak the way I eat?

That's a tricky one. It could be your total calorie intake, it could be nutrient timing, it could be individual food selection, it could be meal frequency, it could be that you need a diet break, etc. etc. etc.

I'd first like to know how many meals you eat per day and how many fruits/vegetables you eat per day for starters.

Also, what rate are you losing weight at on a weekly basis and what is your current weight?

I'd first like to know how many meals you eat per day and how many fruits/vegetables you eat per day for starters. I eat 6 times a day. Three meals and two snacks. I eat about 2-3 servings of vegetables per day. I do not eat fruit. My vegetables are usually a green salad (spinach) and broccoli or green beans.

Also, what rate are you losing weight at on a weekly basis and what is your current weight? My weight loss is averaging about 2lbs per week. I currently weigh 254 (I started at 310). I started this in late September.

I'd consider dropping the snacks so that you are then eating larger meals. So total daily intake wouldn't change, you'd just move those snacks to your meals to make them larger meals.

I'd also try increasing your vegetable intake and see if that helps to blunt hunger.

Lastly you could consider increasing protein and reducing fat slightly to see if that helps blunt hunger.

I'd comment on specific macros but your logging looks to have some gaps/inconsistencies in it so I can't make conclusive recommendations, but the above ideas are things you could experiment with and see if it helps to effectively blunt hunger.

Me too! I am having a hard time eating a deficit consistently. I think I eat pretty well. I'm not gaining but I'm losing the last five either.

Hi Nicole! My name is Nicole too!
I would be starving too; I've really amped up my veggie consumption as I've lost weight to help me increase the volume of the food I eat and lower the calorie density, so I'd echo what SideSteel says about veggies. I know it can be tough when you are trying to stay low carb though; the reason I quit low carb was because I couldn't eat as many veggies as I wanted! Roasted cauliflower is my favorite. Braised cabbage is pretty good too; I make a head every weekend and eat it with breakfast all week. Maybe make it a goal to get in 3 servings a day every day for a week and then try increasing from there?

Thank you for all the replies, I will definitely try adding in more veggies and see if that helps out. Hopefully the hunger goes away =)
