I have seen you all mention before that people with lower LBM may wish to set a little bit higher goal BF% to start bulking or they might risk losing too much from the parts of their body where they don't carry weight. Can you say more about that? I'm 5'7", 132 lbs, and you had estimated me a month or so ago at 28-29% BF. I think I'd like to bulk at some point but I really don't think I could get down to 20% BF without getting overly skinny in my arms, calves and face. Advice for setting a good BF% goal to start a bulk?

My advice would be to not set a goal body fat %. As you get closer and closer to the "ok I'm really getting too skinny" you'll have a much better idea as to when is the right time to stop cutting, at which point you can either recomp, or really slowly bulk and you may just do it for a shorter duration depending on your physique.

OK, thank you! That makes sense.
I found some links in this group to info on recomping. (The remarkably thorough lists of helpful threads is much appreciated!) Slightly confused but I think I get it. :) I'm also thinking about trying IF.
