Not Sore???

First sorry for the long question/post....I have been using Body Beast for about 2 months. I am in the Bulk phase and while I do not follow the schedule exact (also do yoga and run 3-5 times per week)
I do the upper body workouts 4-5 times per week. I can see a little more firmness in my upper body, my 8 reps are HARD at the end and I have been able to up my weight slightly since I started but have not seen major gains. I lift rather heavy (for me) and feel I push myself through the workouts well and do not take the 90+second rests given between sets, I am able to keep my heart rate up to a modest pace throughout.
I come from several years of P90X where skipping just a few weeks meant you pay the price in a couple days worth of soreness. I do NOT have soreness with Beast. At the end my muscles are tired, but after a little rest/recovery drink and shower I am fine by the time I get to work about 90 minutes post workout. Don't get me wrong I do not want to be in pain 24/7 to prove to myself I worked out...but doesn't some soreness mean strength gains???
My goal is definition and strength, and i don't want to be wasting my time if I am not progressing properly. Thoughts?

DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) does not happen to everyone. The fact is they do not know 100% what causes it. So believe it is a build up of lactic acid but other sites I have seen say that is not the case.
Usually for me if it is a new muscle group I have not worked before I will definitely get sore. However the second or third time around doing the exercise I do not. (even if I go up in weight).
So it is different for everyone. My husband has been lifting for years and he rarely get sore and trust me he WORKS out.0
