Saying hi from Oregon

Hey there - I am soon to be 51. And I have a lot of weight to lose. And I'm overwhelmed and intimidated by this whole process. Last but not least I'm just really pissed at myself.

Anyone in the same boat as me?

WE CAN do this!! I am 51 and know about being frustrated due to being overweight and seemingly not being able to shed the pounds. But ladies, we can do this.
Be sure to track everything you eat...everything, and be sure not to under estimate the quantity you are consuming. I keep a food diary on MFP and it really helps. I post what I am going to eat before I eat and just seeing all those numbers prompts me to eat less. Also, picking an exercise goal before exercising also helps. Determine that you will...say walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes before you walk and calculate how many calories you are 'GOING' to burn before you even begin.
The most difficult thing is not getting frustrated. I know, preaching to the choir, but we have to know that we are going to get frustrated and want to give up, but... no way is that going to happen. We already have come too far to go back...so we are going to keep going!!

In the same boat - 51 and very PO'd at myself. Found MFP to be a great tool, and it's been work - making myself accountable has been the biggest part.

    Hi Oregon
One thing I've learned over the years is repeated on here all of the time: calorie deficient :) My best advice is to not starve yourself, log it all, and get back on the horse as soon as you fall off! I've followed this advice (and not followed it) since my teens. Now I'm three months away from 60 and just working on getting better all the time. Hope it works this time :)
