Eating calories back?

I'm not following JM diet plan but I am eating healthy. I eat turkey bacon/sausage/meatloaf, etc, salads, salmon, tuna, almonds, eggs, fruit, etc. However, today I ate 1526 calories and netted 1256. I just started on Monday and I only ate over 1200 once (I think it was 1300). Is this ok to do every once in awhile? I'm actually not sure what happened today...thought I was doing good until I put everything I ate in for today.
Does anyone else eat their calories back? I know some people don't even stick to 1200 and eat closer to 1500
