I'm headed out to the desert to see my step-son show off his dirt biking skills and I'm feeling a little apprehensive about sticking to my food plan. I'm taking some healthy snacks with me, but I usually don't like impromptu events because I don't know what food items will be there, and it's too late to ask. I know I have to let it go because I can't be in control of every situation. I'll say the serenity prayer a few times and listen to a podcast speaker meeting on the way there (its an hour drive). After that, I think I'll be ready.

How do you all stay on track when something unexpected comes your way?

Good question. Being that I'm new to the process, I'll be watching this thread and looking for tips and tricks that others use.

Some people take their own food with them even so a social event at a home.

Others look online and study menus and plan ahead if they can.
