I'll start by saying I have been doing this since March 1st now & I'm very happy with how I feel physically & mentally, but that being said, I am a bit frustrated by the fact that I haven't lost anything since the 18th.

I had been eating approximately 1300 calories with macros at 5% carbs, 30 % protein & 65% fat and after doing the keto calculater on Ruled.me It said I should be eating about 1600 calories which kind of freaked me out. I have PCOS & have never lost weight eating more than about 1200 calories so for me even upping it to 1300 was scary.

Yesterday, out of frustration & a bit of desperation, I went in & changed my goals so that I'm now eating 1500c with macros at 5/25/70 and this morning I was down, not much, only 0.4, but still down.

What is everyones feelings about calories??

I'm honestly not sure where I got my 1540 daily calorie goal from. My guess is MFP's setting. My TDEE (20% reduction) is 1749, and my Fitbit settings are similar to this. I usually consume anywhere from that 1540 to the 1749, eating back exercise calories (most, not all).

I notice when I have a low calorie week, I tend to lose less. I still can't wrap my head around eating MORE. Whatever works I suppose.

Oh, and my macros are set at carbs 5%, fat 80%, and protein 15%. I rarely ever hit my macros though, but I try to make sure my fat stays relatively high.

I have no trouble at all getting my fat macros & am usually over. Between my bullet proof coffee & my love of mayo & eggs its the easiest thing for me. :)

Hi Krista, I started around the same time as you on the LCHF Lifestyle. I only have 5 lbs now to lose...since, I lost 5 lbs in a relatively short time with this lifestyle. I *like* the fact that I am burning FAT now for energy, rather than the carbs. My daily goal is 1210, until I reach maintenance which will be 1400. I haven't lost anything for about two weeks now. But I haven't gained either. Every body is different. Sooo keep hanging in there...and we will cheer you on. My energy is returning (I learned there is also a transition there, too)...I was EXHAUSTED there for a while...soooo for April I am on a regiment of doing Yoga and Jillian's 30 day shred...cause she uses WEIGHTS. Burning my fat calories is a big consolation that when I DO lose the weight I know it is stored bodyfat, and more PERMANENT then just water or muscle loss. I am getting better at staying Low Carb, AND I don't crave sweets anymore, which is my DOWNFALL. I don't have trouble with the High Fat portion either! ...Not sure I answered your question about calories. I read lots of experiences where calories were increased, and people lost weight. You will find what works for you...I know you won't give up :)

    Hugs and Smiles,
    Deb

Thanks Deb! I'm the same, feel sooo much better & so happy to not have those awful sweet cravings. I guess some days you have to count the little victories more than others. :)

Listen to your body! MFP was recommending me to eat 1450-1500 cals to lose 1.5 lbs a week. I ate way more than that and lost more than 35 lbs of fat in 3 months. I eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full. I am glad I didn't wreck my metabolism following some random number on the internet.

I also have PCOS, and I have found that I lose much more consistently at a higher intake. 1300 is very low for your size. I would recommend trying the 1600, but also know your protein needs, and don't exceed them. We might have fairly similar TDEEs, and I lose best around 1800 net.
