ZZZZzzzzzzzz.....

So today, as I try to keep my eyes open at my desk, I'm reminded how important sleep is to our overall well being. I got to bed late, then tossed and turned all night. My alarm went off promptly at 6am to get me up for my morning workout. I REALLY wanted to hit snooze....and let's be honest, I did hit it...a couple times. But then I knew how miserable I'd be if I missed my workout.

It's tough for me to fit in my own personal workouts with a full-time job and all the classes I teach. See, I do not count teaching as my workout. That is YOUR time, not mine. I'm there for you, not me. So I have to make time to workout for myself daily, and the morning before work is really my only time.

Around 6:30am I rolled out of my bed, gathered my belongs and got to the gym to workout, before my day started.

I do feel great that I didn't neglect myself and I got my workout in. However, this isn't a lecture on making time in your day to work out no matter what (I know it sure sounds like one huh? I swear I have a point...). My point is that I'm tired, cranky and all I want to do is eat sugary goodies. All because I didn't get quality sleep. I stepped out at lunch to get some sunshine and get away from my desk. I also got on the stationary bike for 30 minutes during my break to revive myself, because another cup of coffee was not going to help.

I have had to make very conscious efforts to stay active and eat quality food today...when all I've really wanted to do is sleep in, have an IV drip of coffee, and make a meal out of girl scout cookies. We are all human. We have good days and bad days. But remember sleep helps us make healthy decisions (among many other things). It's much easier to find the motivation to work out and make mindful eating decisions on a good nights rest.

Hope you all have a wonderful end to your week!

Keep it up Challengers!! Only 10 days left!!
