Break Time.

I'm on Phase 2 today, and Phase 3 tomorrow and Thursday so that on Friday I can party with the pretty ladies from my burlesque school and have some wine and not have to worry about it. I'm starting strong again this Saturday, back on Phase 1, and I'm going to stay there until I've lost another 10% body fat. I'm no longer going to be worrying about my "weight" - I really want to focus on that body fat percentage. I need to buy a scale that scans body fat so I don't have to get scanned at the clinic ALL the time.
I'm not looking forward to putting on the water weight this week - the scale is already going up and I don't like it. But I'm trying to remind myself that it's just water weight and it will come off by the first few days. Uggghhh maybe I need to have my husband hide my scale until Saturday.
Being a diet coach is super fun though, and in another week and a half I'll be on my own doing it while my boss is on vacation. Eee!

Way to go! I find that those of us that have a goal that will take several months to achieve probably need to take a break here and there along the way. It is not only important to actually live our lives but to learn how to do it in a managed way. Yes, hide the scale for a few days. Enjoy yourself thoroughly. And, get back to work when the party is over.0

You know it! I have until I get home from the bar on Friday night/Saturday morning and go to sleep. Waking up Saturday back on Phase 1 and after the first week, after I'm back in ketosis I'm going to start going to yoga with a friend and try to learn to do twisty crap.0

Hey there! Might need your opinion on this one.
Easter is coming! And this year my "in laws" have decided to go to restaurant for the usual Easter brunch. Since it's been a busy year for them, we (the kids) suggested something easy and something everyone coud enjoy. We voted on a Dim Sum Style Chinese food restaurant.
I will be cheating fromt he IP Protocol, because I refuse to not partake in this meal, and I don't have to will to eat before going to the restaurant and then not joining in the feast.
That being said, I won't binge, but I will cheat. What is the best way to prepare for this before and then doing damage control after? It'll be brunch so I was thinking just going vegitarian for the rest of the day and having 1 or 2 IP Products.0 -
Drink a lot of water. Maybe a walk to burn some calories. Also, my coach recommended that if this happens, the next day do packets only no meat and eat your vegetables. Good luck and have fun!0

Preparation depends on what you're cheating with. If you are planning to drink alcohol at your brunch, then you need to start phasing off the program this week - do Phase 2 for a couple of days, then Phase 3 for a couple of days, and go right back to Phase 1 the day after Easter. This is crucial because when you're in a ketogenic state your liver is producing the ketones that are causing your body to burn its own fat stores - which means that it's too busy doing that to process and break down alcohol. Drinking alcohol in ketosis can make you really, really sick, so you need to replenish your glycogen before you drink.
However, if you're just cheating with food, then just be careful about portion sizes, maybe skip the rice or the noodles, drink at least 100oz. of water that day, and like lilgantjen suggests, do only packets instead of meat the following day. (so instead of 3 packets and 8 oz. of meat, do 5 packets and no meat).
The really, really important thing is to prepare yourself emotionally because restarting after a cheat day is harder psychologically, because you'll have to go through the same symptoms as when you first started - they won't be as severe, but you'll get the hunger and the headaches again and that can be very frustrating.
Enjoy yourself!0 -
It will be a food cheat only. And I'll prep myself to do the 5 packets intead of the meat the day after.
Thanks for the great advise!0 -
Not that I condone cheating but I sipped a glass of wine one evening while on phase 2 and did not get sick. I drank it very slowly over a period of an hour and a half and drank about three glasses of water with it. But that is me. Everyone may react differently.0

Wine usually won't give you the same sickness because wine has carbs in it - you'll really see the sick to your stomach feeling if you're drinking liquor that has no carbs in it, like rum, vodka, whiskey, etc. I didn't know this for the longest time and I cheated one night and had a rum and diet - couldn't figure out why I felt so bad.
But yeah, if you ARE going to cheat with alcohol, wine is your best bet. The natural sugars in the wine will help to raise your blood sugar just enough to keep you from getting sick.0 -
Good to know! I did a lot of investigation to find the best one to try. One reason I picked wine besides the lower carb options is because I am not a huge fan of it and knew I would sip it very slowly.0
