Resting muscles?

Hi everyone,
I'm sitting in bed after taking a long bath with epsom salts. I'm feeling very sore, especially in my arms. I think it's because I switched to 5 lb weights today and yesterday. Do you guys think we would see better results if we took one rest day? Today I didn't even do my usual one hour walk and I feel more tired than yesterday when I walked 5 miles AND did the 30 day shred. I really want to do this every day until April but I am worried that the good effects will be lost if my muscles are sore and weak. What does everyone think? What are your experiences?

I think, on average, it's advisable to take one "rest" day each week. That day doesn't have to be a couch potato day... just do something different. Your body will thank you!

I took Saturday off (day 5) because my knee told me I should. I'm glad I did. I'm feeling a little bit stronger every day...

I'm going for the 30 days straight, just sort of a jump start. But I totally agree to listen to your body, if you need a day off, take it!

Me personally I did level 1 straight through and went straight to level 2 (I had to add two days on the end because I was out of town the first week I started) but have been going straight through since. I have 10 days left and I'm now trying to decide if I'm going to go to level 3. I more than likely will just so I can say I've completed the entire DVD!!!

I agree. It's really what your body tells you. I will say I switched to 5 pound weights and the next day I was so insanely sore and almost talked myself out of doing the workout the next day, but I switched to 3 lb weights the next day and I feel a lot better. I think I just over did it. It Is scary feeling so sore because we don't know if it's normal or not, ussually it's just your body saying "I'm not used to this" I has a really bad pain in my and it freaked me out because I had a c section a few years back and I always worry tha maybe I hurt myself but it went away thankful. Again everyone is different, just trust your gut.

I'm personally a believer in a "rest day". Not necessarily doing nothing but no strength training. I plan on taking one day off a week and doing something different (yoga, pilates, jog, walk, whatever). But I believe your muscles need a day to recover. Just my opinion but I'm planning on adding a few days on at the end in order to give my body a rest during the 30DS.

Like everyone else say- listen to your body. If you need a rest, take it!! You will still see the results :)

I took off Day 5 as well, my knee was killing me and I was afraid to push it. And if I need another rest day, I won't hesitate to take it. But I just love this group....it keeps me motivated to keep going, even when I don't want to!

My arms felt better so I waited until 8:30pm to do my shredding and I was fine, especially because I lowered back down to 2 pound weights. Also, I seem to have hurt my foot this afternoon testing out my fancy new sandal clogs, and I am now REALLY feeling it in my right foot/shin. Oh well, at least I got my workout in. And I can't wait to show off some toned legs in these this summer:
