Kill my core! :D

Hello! Since I am not too far from my goal weight, I have decided that it is time to begin weight training to try and avoid the skinnyfat phenomenon. You know what I mean; thin as a whip, but all flub.
Anyhow, I was wondering if someone could give me a few pointers on how to tighten up my core. I have an exaggerated hourglass figure, so I've been rocking the tummy pouch for longer than I'd like to admit. I'm thinking I'll start off with doing Russian twists with a medicine ball and leg raises, but does anyone else have any help to offer? For example, how heavy should the medicine ball be? I'm currently 134.2lbs, 5'9", and looking to hit 130lbs-125lbs with muscle.
Thank you all, this group has been amazing
Edit: I am aware that there is no way to target fat loss, and have a cardio and food plan outlined for that. This is specifically asking for weight training exercises to strengthen and tone my core. Thanks again!

I personally find pilates an excellent way to imprive my core strenght - but it's not weight training (though bodyweight training i suppose) so it might not be what you're looking for?0
