Blood Sugar Up After Exercise

I'm curious if anyone can explain a phenomena I have observed with my blood sugar monitoring. My blood sugars actually increase after exercise. Eventually they come back down again, but I was wondering if anyone can explain what might be going on.
For example this morning:
5:08 a 90 when I woke up. This was fasting.
8:40 a 98 before breakfast. This was after I'd lifted weights for about 50 minutes, rode my stationary bike for another 45 minutes and then cleaned up. While I'd had water and a diet coke, I'd had no food between the two readings.
10:45 a 90 2 hours after breakfast.
I know this isn't an issue or real problem. I'm just curious. Can anyone explain what might be going on here?

Short answer: It's normal for bgl to rise after exercise.
Here's an article on the subject:

Thanks for the link. That is sort of what I thought was happening. Even though I tested an hour or so after exercising the sugars released during exercise were still floating around my system.
I have run into the sugar crash after exercise before.... It isn't pretty. I always make sure to eat an hour or so afterwards even if it is just a quick snack.0 -
You might try eating a small breakfast before you start exercising, since that will give your exercising muscles energy and increase your endurance. ~Lynn /Glucerna0

Thanks for this informative helpful link BigGuy. along with scubasue, I too share the same increased blood sugars after an exercise session and this article helps to gain a better understanding of whats going on in the background.
I also can empathize with your crash experiences too scubasue. And you're absolutely correct, It's not a friendly picnic to be invited to.0
