Good Morning All!
Have my trainer workout tonight. It looks like a nice day, assuming no thunderstorm, and I plan to run to and from the workout.
I hope that things get better for you, Marla. That you feel better, Laura. And that you come up with a good future workout plan, Sherry.0 -
Whoooo!! Did I have a good run today!!
It was warm...I mean really warm, in Athens today. Wore a tanktop and ran down to the beach (where lots of kids on break were frolicking). At the halfway mark, I stopped and laid down on a bench in the sun and let the water breaking on the rocks spray sea water on me. It felt amazing and I can say that the start of the 2nd 5miles was easier than the start of the beginning of the run!! I took some little walk breaks today. They've become my "secret weapon", because they help me to recoup my form after it starts to deteriorate from fatigue, helps with my ankle especially(!), and helps me to access fuel from my vast "energy storage" (er, "fat"!lol)--no need for goo or gummies or whatever. Anyway, it was a great run, but the last mile was getting a little rough, when some folks got off a bus, heading home and a guy with a briefcase and wearing a "Greece" jacket (sports fan?) said very clearly and deliberately with a smile in Greek, "Good strength!". Ahhhhhhhh, just what I needed! I got goosebumps, a big smile and suddenly my pace picked up to a really strong run--in my last mile, after 9 previous miles!! Running is a head game and don't let anyone tell you it isn't!! That little vote of confidence gave me actual physical strength when I thought I had none. Amazing! Thank you sweet stranger!
Hope everyone else is having a great day! Have a good trainer workout Donna. :-)0 -

SO JEALOUS right now! That sounds amazing. And I'm so happy to hear about your great run!
Hope the weather holds out Donna!
I intended to get my run in this morning - my trainer has me doing 3.5 miles with 6 hill repeats in the middle - but I got up only to realize it's still too dark out for me to fit that in before work. I ran 3.5 miles Wednesday last week before work but without needing the hill in the middle, so I was able to head out while it was still dark and run in an area with some streetlights. The hill I'm going to use (which needs to be long enough to run fast up for 30 seconds but not so crazy steep it's going to kill me) is in a more isolated area without street lights, and I've only run there a couple of times so I don't know the road well enough to run it in the dark (especially not uphill fast!). I have an eye appointment at 4:00 and hopefully she doesn't dilate my pupils or anything that's going to make it harder to run. It's light out until nearly 8:00 pm so I have plenty of daylight tonight.0 -
Just got a short walk in last night cause we had to go for supper at the in-laws. But on the plus side, I found out that I am FOR SURE getting a weight bench AND a set of dumb bells FOR FREE!!! I'll hopefully have the spare room ready within the next couple weeks and we can get it moved in. I'm so excited to start lifting.
Tonight I'm planning on going home and trying out Jillian Michael's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism workout. The reviews I read sound like it's a great workout. I was thinking of moving onto Ripped in 30 next, but I think I'll try the other one first, maybe I'll do Ripped in 30 once or twice a week. I'll have to see how the workout goes tonight.0 -
Congrats on the weights & bench Diana! How great! BFBM is a great program too. I tried it, but never did it like a program. It is longer than 30DS or RI30, but can be broken up and spread across 2 days, if you need to. Good luck with it.
Laura, the weather really was enviable today. Towards the end of the run, the clouds accumulated as if it might rain and provided some awesome natural "air conditioning". It felt great. Your time is coming too. Spring and Summer will come, they always do. Good luck on your hills. :happy:0 -
Diana that's awesome!
My run was also awesome. By far my best run since my surgery. I did a slow warm-up mile, then started my hill repeats around mile 1.25. And I felt STRONG. So strong. Powered up those hills, and the 6th repeat felt just as strong as the first. Finished up my 3.5 mile run with more hills! Had negative splits and am really happy with my pace compared to where I have been.0
