Protein Absorption

I am curious to know how much protein your body can absorb per meal, and how long you have to wait to eat more protein. It is hard to get 200 grams into my day with my thinking of absorbing 40 grams a meal please help!

It maybe that only 30 to 40 grams get absorbed at one shot but everything eventually gets absorbed. The protein gets broken down into amino acids which are stored in a pool in the blood. From there its absorbed at.a.certain rate.0

Thank you, that makes more sense so if I weigh 235.. then I should eat this much in grams?0

Most people go by 1gram of protein for each pound of lean body weight..on a cut u may want to go alittle more protein.0

On a cutt I like to do 1.3 grams per pound. Some say you can go up to 1.5. I think that's a little high but everyone is dif. So try bumping it up from 1 gram per pound to 1.2 and see how your body responds. I do about 1-1.1 grams to maintain.0

It will all get used in some way or another. The rule of thumb is generally 30-40g at a time and the rest is saved for later. However, if you are in an energy deficit your body will begin cleaving the amino acids off protein and using the rest of it as energy. This generally happens on low-carb diets though.
Unless you're a competitive bodybuilder you don't really need more than .8g/lb or 1.5g/kg bodyweight. When you're going into drastic cuts (I'd say around 800+ kcal deficits) you will want to increase this to roughly 2g/kg as your body will need the extra protein to maintain muscle mass while losing weight.
You can more accurately* calculate protein needs by Lean body mass as LBM is what utilizes the protein, not fat mass.0 -
how much is your body like mine? physically and biochemically?0

When I've done 16/8 Fasting I had 2 x 100g protein meals a day. Didn't lose any lean mass and was going up in numbers on my lifts. Depends on the body type honestly. Some people can store and use more protein then others. Its about trail and error and find what works for your body.0

It's not necessary to limit to 40 grams per meal. If it were, I would personally forget the whole thing because I'm not going to carry tupperware or a shaker cup wherever I go. LOL0
