Happy Easter Everyone!

Enjoy yourselves, its also rest day! Below is a quote from a website I found, and I thought i'd share it with everyone.

Lastly.....Don't forget your weigh in is on Monday.....

~ Melissa
.

1. Don’t deprive yourself. Depriving yourself at a time when temptation is high can lead to a binge or blow out. Instead, choose morning tea as the time to have your treats rather than later in the day or after dinner when your body will not have as much time to burn these extra calories as fuel.

2. Choose quality over quantity. Instead of buying mountains of cheap Easter eggs that you may feel compelled to eat ‘because they are there’, invest in good quality dark Belgium chocolate. The extra you spend will be saved in calories.

3. Make a pact with yourself to walk every day over Easter. An easy 30-minute walk everyday will help you burn the extra calories and make you feel in control of your eating when you are offsetting it with some exercise.

4. Distract your cravings. If you have had your quota of treats but are still craving more, let yourself be distracted by something else for 15 minutes to see if the craving passes. If it doesn’t, don’t deprive yourself, have some, but use the tips above to monitor your intake.

5. Choose a healthier chocolate option. Rather than store bought chocolate, why not make a healthy chocolate cake like the recipe provided by our Executive Chef David Hunter. It is not only delicious, nutritious and guilt free, but the kids will love it too.

How cool is it that Melissa and I are on the same page? I'd like to share with you guys as well. Below are 10 foods that I hope you will consider disciplining yourself from. I realize that this will be a challenge but please refer to our group name. :)

Top Ten Worst Foods (lose them)

    Bacon
    Cheese sauce from a jar
    Commercially baked cookies and cakes
    Double Cheeseburgers
    Doughnuts
    French Fries
    Fruit juice and fruit drinks
    Potato chips
    Soda
    Whipped toppings

Yeah, yeah I know!! Bacon?? Really? Sadly, yes. The good news is that this really is possible and quite rewarding. I wish you all a blessed and happy Easter.

And now for a happier list...

Top Ten Best Foods (learn to love them)

    Blueberries
    Broccoli
    Legumes
    Oats
    Oranges
    Spinach
    Sweet potatoes
    Tomatoes
    Walnuts
    Wild salmon

Toss some chopped onion and mushrooms into a heated skillet with coconut or olive oil. After 5 minutes or so add some pumpkin seeds and let them toast for a couple minutes. Toss some fresh spinach into the mix. Let it wilt just a bit and use this delightful combination to top a cooked salmon fillet. This easy recipe is a personal fav. Again, I wish you all a lovely Easter weekend!

I don't eat anything on the list daily... But if I want any one of those... I will eat it. Except for double cheeseburgers, I will not eat that. Two patties with cheese....you already know that's damn bad. I do not drink soda. I may have a diet coke if I'm out having pizza, otherwise I opt for water. That's like a once every couple months kind of thing.

Cheese sauce from a jar? What's that lol... Like queso salsa for chips? My parents never bought stuff like cheese in a can..so I never learned to eat those things.

What do you think about turkey bacon? Or thinly sliced bacon where the serving may be 4 slices for 70 calories? Would you consider eating 2 slices of that? Or are you a strictly healthy eater jesi?

Oh I really WANT to be a strictly healthy eater! With 2 teenage boys and a man who believes EVERYTHING is better topped with bacon, we'll I'm a work in progress. Lol I personally like turkey bacon, even prefer it, but I rarely indulge simply because it's not a favorite. My weaknesses include Blue Bell ice cream (any flavor! You can not go wrong with Blue Bell!), Peter Pan Reduced Fat Peanut Butter (yes, I've tried and have some PB2. It's good but it's no Peter Pan!), and chocolate (warm and gooey!). Pure bliss would be all these together!! I think I just gained a lb... Lol

I'm an hour by hour girl. "Be disciplined until 11:00." Then start over at 11:01. Each hour is a victory. But I do fall weak. We all do. When I do, I refuse to self-hate. Just say, "Ok Woman, get back on that wagon!"

Ok, I've confessed my personal weaknesses. I hope all you guys know that we all struggle with something. Sometimes more than just 1 something! Your turn Melissa. Name those weaknesses!

Definitely all moderation or rarely foods for me but I haven't told myself to cut them out completely so that I don't start craving them!
