Hi

I've done week 1 of C25k. My issue is I want to get into a routine for when I run. I work part time and I'm a full time student. I work Monday, Tuesday and Friday. As winter is coming where I live I can't run before or after I work, partly because I can't run in the dark and I hate the cold.

This leaves me with Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. I've been trying to make Sunday my sleep in and house work day. So ideally I'd like to do my runs Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Would this put too much strain on my body? I could to it Wednesday morning and then Thursday afternoon so I get maximum time between them.

I usually finish work early on a Friday, would I be best to try and squeeze it in then? That may cause me to fall behind though if I can't get it in.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I'm hoping to continue running once I complete the program, but one step at a time.

Thanks
Lily

I run in the dark, cold, rain, wind, storms (as long as there is no lightning)...don't be afraid of the elements. The worst conditions usually end up being some of my best runs.

As far as a back to back schedule...it isn't going to make that big of a deal right now. But when you start getting into the later weeks where you are consistantly running it will benefit you and your body if you were to space the runs out...at least until you are running consistantly for 30 minutes 3 times a week for about a month or so. The rest day in between allows for your body to recover from the changes that are occuring in your body: your heart is actually growing due to the harder it needs to work and the fact that your body is producing more blood to help carry oxygen to your legs. Your legs in turn are creating more calliparies throughout your muscles to help deliver fuel and oxygen so that they can keep going. Your tendons are getting stronger, and your bones are hardening so that they can absorb the impact better. There is a lot going on there.

    Thanks for the reply rduhlir.

I haven't got enough motivation to get out of the bed in the dark and cold. And as I run on a dirt road in the middle of no where its not safe to run at dusk. We have lots of wild dogs. A little too much motivation to finish faster. :)

I just did week 2 day 1 today and finished it by running up and down the driveway in the dark with the flood light from the house giving me some light. Maybe I can fit it in after work.

If I were to do it in the morning and then the following afternoon that's sort of like a day in between. Isn't it?
