Hi Sara & SS - I was reading this article http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/contest-dieting-part-1.html specifically the first part about the sodium levels. I am prolly very guilty of what he says about keeping sodium at a minimum (average when I am eating well between 1300mg-2000mg) and then yes if I eat out I know the scales will fluctuate by up to about 2 kilos and I know its only fluid due to how quickly I lose it over the next few days. I am curious if you have thoughts about what average of sodium would be a good basis? I know MFP sets it to 2500 (I think) but I also know their macros in relation to carbs etc are not normally recommended....so I am wondering if 2500 is accurate or what sort of level would be a good guide? (I avoid a LOT of foods like asian sauces, marinades, restuarant food, cottage cheese even restrict protein bars etc due to sodium levels and now thinking maybe that isnt so wise)

Thanks!

Why are you concerned about it? Bloat/looks? Scale weight? Health concerns?

The answer may be very different depending on what matters to you.

    ^^this

FWIW - I ignore sodium - it is only relevant to me if I am trying to track weight as is skews the scale - and only as it may explain a daily fluctuation.
