So the only shoes I have found that work for me are Nike Vomero's. I have tried multiple brands and they all give me some pretty bad leg pains. I always revert back to Vomero's. Well recently I called the shoe store they had 1 pair of vomeros left in my size. I went picked them up got home and ran 6 miles in them. OMG torture!!! Took a look at them after the run and they were Vomero 8s. Now the 9s are out and I cannot find vomero 7s. I wore a pair of my older 7s last night for 8 miles and now have some pretty bruised up feet! I have a 10 k this weekend and a half marathon in 3 weeks. I just don't know what to do.
I am taking tonight off of running and icing my feet all day.

Any other ideas?

Have you had your gait evaluated by a specialist? They may be able to recommend a specific shoe/insert combination based on your personal running style and any physical concerns you may have. I went to a local running store, Big River Running Co, and it made a world of difference. They watched me walk, we discussed my physical struggles (in my case sore knees), and they made a recommendation based on our conversation.

If I were in your shoes (no pun intended), I would skip the 10K and hold off on longer runs until you have a pair of running shoes that won't leave you in pain.

Good luck with finding running shoes and on your half marathon!

As the poster above suggested have you been fitted at a running store? Anybody analyze your gait? Should not be so hard (which I know is not helpful) to find a shoe

I have been analyzed about 6 times in 3 years. Maybe I am broken. thanks I am going again tonight to "get" shoes!

I'm sure you are not broken. :) Maybe go up 1/2 size in the shoe?

I am a walker but I still wear shoes that give me very good arch support and cushioning. I wear the Nike Pegasus. I do not run because of the existing back and hip issues that I have. These shoes are considered to be in the neutral ride category as are the Vomero's that you mentioned. You might want to try something in the stability category like the Nike LunarGlide, LunarEclipse, or the Zoom Structure. To me it sounds like you went to a different shoe with different support and your feet are rebelling trying to over compensate for the differences. Did your gait analysis state if you pronate (foot rolls toward the center of the body) or supinate (rolls toward the outside)? You might need to get custom orthotics to help correct your natural issues of pronation or supination. Just my opinion but I'm not a professional.

Happy to report that I contacted Nike directly to see what they suggest. They suggested Air Pegasus 30. Went to running store Saturday tried the Pegasus and like 5 other pairs(No other Nike styles). Bought the Air Pegasus ran a 10k race in them this morning and BINGO!!!!! We have a winner!

Nike has the best customer service in my experience. I run exclusively in Nike Free's and had an issue recently and they more than made up for if.

ETA: I am very happy you found a winner!!! ????????????

I like my Air Pegasus. I have tried Asics and Saucony and while they are OK I prefer the fit of Nike's.
