My First Fat Fast

So i just finished my first ever 3 day fat fast, and wanted to share my experience..

I gained 3kg after about 3 weeks of cheating so wanted to try the fat fast to get back to where I was. I do love food, and always eat more than 1000 calories per day so I knew it would be a challenge but I wasn't as hungry as I expected.

I couldn't manage the 90% fat, so averaged at 80% fat per day, 4% carbs, and 16% protein.

I took it easy re exercise, just aimed for 10,000 steps on my FitBit and did two light cardio and weight sessions at the gym. I felt slightly light headed in the mornings, but that soon went away, however my mind was a bit foggy during the day and I struggled to focus a bit.

The first morning I lost 1.6kg, the second I lost 0.7 and the third I lost 0.6. (2.9kg in total) I was really amazed by these results particularity because I cheated a bit on day three as my friend had a party and I snacked on the wrong things.

It is not something I would do all the time as I really missed my veggies and salads, but it was amazing to think that 3 weeks of damage can be fixed in 3 days!

I am a bit skeptical if it will all come back on over the next couple of days (particularly cos i plan on cheating a bit on my birthday tomorrow) but I will see how that goes!

My diary is open if anyone wants to take a look :)

Fat fasting is wicked fun!! for me fat fasting is a real test, for some reason when I fat fast I think about food all the time, when can I have my next 200 call fat bomb , lol, but I have never seen anything on earth that can burn weight off of a person faster than the fat fast, the longest I have been able to do it for was 3 days at a time, I often shoot for 5 days but I always buzz off after 3 days, I will tell you this, everytime I fat fast I lose at least 10 pounds in that 3 days, its crazy how effective it is, if your ever on a platue or stall, you are gauranteed to bump right off of that stall with the fat fast,, just remember to be in ketosis before you start, for instance make sure your on induction for 3 days before you start the fat fast,, or it wont work right for you, why? because if your not in ketosis, you will spend that first 3 days gettting into fat burning mode before you start burning fat to begin with,, so why torture yourself doing the fat fast just to get into ketosis in the first place, so, make sure your already low carbing/ keto/ or induction level.

Thank you for sharing this! I haven't had to to a fat fast on Keto yet, but I'm expecting that at some point a plateau will find me. I'm thinking about using a fat fast for a few days leading up to when I leave for my wedding.

Uhm... no. You did not lose 2.9kg in 3 days. Not 2.9kg of fat at least. You may have dropped that much accumulated water weight. To lose that much fat, you need to burn almost 22,500 calories. That would be 8,500 calories burned a day (if you're eating a 1000 calories a day).

No doubt there was definitely some water weight loss, but this is post is more CICO nonsense. LCHF/keto has proven over and over that it's not just about CICO.

To the OP: what you called a "fat fast" is really just achieving a correct ketogenic ratio in your LCHF WOE. I eat at that macro ratio every day and I surely wouldn't call it a fast. You should look deeper into keto dieting if you have not yet.
