    Hi all!

Laura, Zombie Winter is right! Is it usually like this, I mean, even like every 4 or 5 years...or is this some really strange once-in-a-century anomaly, because I'd surely be looking for a new place to live! haha! Sounds like you're going to be doing alot of "longest I ever ran"s in the near future. Every single time will be uncomfortable, but think of how what USED TO BE the longest you ever ran will start to feel like child's play. You'll be thankful for it all when you get to the race.

Donna, congrats on being tourney director. That's bound to be alot of work, but it must also be an honor because people know you are up to the task. Great job on getting the miles in!

Today I started to walk to the gym, but it began to sprinkle, so I started to run, then it downpoured, so I was back to walking w/umbrella, and then it stopped and the sun came out right as I reached the gym. haha. I did my chest, arms and shoulders. I sortof alternated, such as: working REALLY hard on chest press, then scaling down on chest fly, working REALLY hard on upright rows (shoulders), then scaling down on shoulder press. I did do the burnout sets today, which turn out to be 45sec or less for these smaller muscles (vs. 1min for legs)--there just isn't that much stored up energy in the smaller muscles. Anyway, I ran back home (with some walk breaks). Running is pretty tough after my workout with the burnout sets b/c I'm really just depleting every little bit of extra glycogen. Anyway, it was a good workout and I'll feel it tomorrow.

    Have a great one!

Hi all, sorry I have not been here much lately only sporadically.

Seems I am being forced into eating better every few months I get this heart burn, stomach ache and nausea that lasts for days after a bout of unhealthy eating.

Going to talk to my doctor about it when I get back. I leave on 3 1/2 week trip Tuesday, going to CA via Portland, Oregon Coast, the Redwoods northern CA, Sacramento area to visit mom, then hanging out in Santa Rosa for a few weeks, including weekend in Napa and weekend in Belvedere where we are staying with my club to ride bikes on angel island for the day.

Busy time, and maybe its good I got sick before I went, a reminder about eating before trip.

I am going alone to visit mom for her birthday and mom's day, but mostly to support my daughter in Santa Rosa that is going through divorce, she has house up for sale and I said I would run errands for her since she is busy manager.

I will obviously have iPad, iPhone with me so zero excuse not to stay with you guys and will be alone during most days while julie is working and I am staying with travel club where you can only be at house for sleeping and breakfast.

Looking very forward to some time alone at the beach and through some great luck weather is turning from rain to warm sun.

Laura it has to stop soon...we are having a heat wave on whole west coast starting Tuesday day I leave, how great is that????

Forgot to say, better but off and on queasy yesterday, today so far ok but rest day again to make sure, will be running around house getting ready for trip as exercise!

Sherry sounds like a great workout! I can imagine how tiring the trip home after the gym is after you've exhausted yourself like that. Thanks for your words about my running - you're absolutely right, and that puts it into perspective.

Marla hope you're starting to feel better. Our bodies sure do let us know when they don't like what we've been doing. It's nice you're going to stay with your daughter. Please do keep in touch while you're there and let us know how you're doing!

My stomach is rather angry with me today and it seems to be getting worse as the day goes on so I'm afraid it's a stomach bug since I haven't eaten anything that should have set it off. Hopefully it's a mild bug. I went to the gym fairly early today to try to beat the freezing rain. Got in my usual Sunday cardio cross training (shorter segments on the elliptical, rowing machine, spin bike & Jacob's Ladder), then did my homework from Jason - ankle & inner thigh band exercises and 6-7 minutes of core. I ended with a 2 minute plank, then stretched & foam rolled. It took 61 minutes total. I did shorter segments than usual on the cardio machines but at higher intensity. It was raining when I left and the roads were fine but my sidewalk & stairs were already getting icy, but I planned on staying in the rest of the day anyway. I went to the grocery store last night so I wouldn't have to today, which I was grateful for this morning. Did some light cleaning earlier but now I'm curled up on the couch with a book while I finish up laundry.

Sherry this is not a normal winter. Our winters can be hard, but we've broken all kinds of snow & cold records this year. We're only 6" of snow away from the all-time snowiest record and since we're supposed to get a combination of snow/ice/rain this week there's a chance we might break that. I'd rather have more snow than ice. Tonight's forecast is for ice & high winds so I'm trying to get as prepared as I can be in case the power goes out. The temp is hovering right around freezing so that wouldn't be much fun, but I have warm clothes and blankets and candles.

Sorry about the snow, Laura! Hope that Spring comes soon!

    Enjoy your trip, Marla!

Good luck with the resolutions, Sherry. Hope that by the end of the month you are happy about where your exercise and diet is going.

This has been a big running month for me and this week in particular I've done 23 miles from Monday through today. Fells has done most of the runs with me. Yesterday's was quite hot for him (just 68F, but we're not used to it) and this morning we did 5+ miles. This afternoon we were to tape our freestyle routines to submit for a freestyle video event. Colin did great with lots of enthusiasm. Fells barely walked through his. They asked me if he was sick and I realized that if I had wanted a dog bursting with energy this afternoon I probably shouldn't have had him run 17 miles this week and especially 9 miles this weekend (4 miles Saturday and 5 today). Ooops.
