owwwww! Shoulder soreness never feels "good" like abs and glutes and arms and legs--to me, it always feels like I did something wrong. But anyway, my shoulders and chest are SORE! So sore that I had trouble falling asleep last night.
Rainy-ish day today, so tentative plan is to hit the gym while my son is at the tutor today. I'll do either legs or glutes/back/core--will decide when I see how busy the gym is. Today is first day back to school and it's nice to just have one kid at home this morning. It's also DH's birthday, so not sure if there'll be cake (I'm leaving that up to him, since he's been trying to diet a little for Summer too and I'd be fine with no cake or just some cupcakes for the kids). Have to go run some errands with lil girl right now and will check back in tonight.
Have a great Monday!0 -
warning: vent session
Grrrrrr! I'm wildly angry, sad, upset, idunnowhat. This day went all sorts of wrong, involving DH having an appt and sticking me with lil girl at the last minute, the city center being shut down by the police, re-routed busses, traffic jams, and an epic torrential downpour on the way to the tutor. I ended up having to do alot of walking, carrying 40lb lil girl with one arm (umbrella in the other) and ended up soaking wet and dragging home to collapse right as the sun came out. I just wish things had gone the way they were supposed to. Even with the rain, if only I had just had my son and dropped him off, I would've gone to the gym. But hauling lil girl all over creation in the rain is one of the most exhausting things I can do. And we even have umbrellas and raincoats and galoshes, etc, but I didn't have them because she wasn't even supposed to be with me and I didn't find out DH would work late until we were already out. My shoulders and chest are still very sore, so that made the carrying even worse. ugh. Anyway, no gym; trying to dry out; sending DH to pick-up my poor lil soaking wet son from the tutor. I think I'll do some light barbell squats at home. I did that over the weekend and it made me feel better about taking an extra rest day. I would do some light clean & jerks, but my shoulders are too sore for that.
Sorry for the vent, but I feel much better getting it off my chest. Oh, also, at least DH made a good sale at his meeting, yay!0 -
I don't know that I would count this as a no exercise day, Sherry. Not the exercise you needed or wanted, but plenty of exercise nevertheless. Hope that everyone is dry and happier now.
My exercise plans today are a 3-4 mile run and trainer homework.0 -
Sherry that sounds miserable. I agree with Donna you totally got in a workout, though, even though it wasn't the fun kind of workout.
I didn't even set my alarm to get up early for my run this morning because we were under an ice storm warning. We didn't end up with a layer of ice overnight, thank goodness, but the temps were close enough to freezing that I wouldn't have felt safe running anyway, especially in the semi-darkness. You just need to hit one patch of ice for things to end badly. Plus it was 34 degrees and raining with 40mph wind gusts, which sounds like torture. It's supposed to be wet (combination of rain/wintry mix) until Friday so I guess I'm treadmill running again this week. I'm starting to hate running. Trainer session tonight.0 -
Did RI 30 on Friday and Saturday, but got busy with housework on Sunday and lost track of time. Didn't leave time to squeeze in a workout so I guess that will be my rest day!0

Thanks for the encouragement. I am definitely claiming the walking we did, especially since I was actually running while carrying little girl, trying to beat the rain and find a working bus route. I also did 3 sets of barbell squats tonight (lil girl joined me with her invisible barbell, heehee).
Laura, don't start to hate running just yet. But you can hate the weather all you want! Look at it this way...if you ever vacation in Bora Bora, wouldn't you want to be capable of running the island (it's 18mi around)? That's something to start to shoot for. Just imagine white sands and palm trees on your next run.0 -
Oh I've been hating my runs even in nicer weather. The weather is just making me more cranky about it.0

I did not run today, so I will have to tomorrow. It will need to be on the treadmill but Jason said I can hold off my hill repeats until later in the week when I can hopefully get outside to do them, so just do 3-4 miles.
I did get in a good total body workout & 15 minutes on the elliptical.0
