Rev 3 money for age groupers

Any discussion on Rev 3's decision to pay top finishing age group racers and eliminate pay outs for the pro's? I've been very surprised by the differences of opinion surfacing. I personally love to see a race company offering rewards to the age groupers who are the primary means of support for the races. Granted I'm not the kind of racer likely to actually get my hands on any of the money, but I just appreciate the focus being on the amateurs rather than all about the professionals.
