Just had a huge NSV.
I had to go in and see the insurance agent for some paperwork. I walked in and was not recognized by the woman who has been doing this for us for the last 14 years!
When I gave her my name, she looked up the information and I saw recognition dawn only when she looked at our information and I gave her addresses and asked specifics. She completed what we needed then said, "You've lost weight haven't you?"
Oh, yes. heh, heh Never knew that being unrecognized could feel so good!0 -
Awesome NSV Dan!!! I bet that felt amazing!!! Keep up the awesomeness :drinker:0

huge female NSV today.
i bought my first ever set of matching bra and panties! i have always wanted to have cute underthings, but was always stuck buying bras that looked like boat sails and underpants that could be used as bedsheets. well, now i have pretty, lacy, purple bra and panties. awesome!0 -
Dan that is great, it's amazing in your pictures how different you look! Motivation for sure
Jackie: that's a great victory, feeling pretty defiantly keeps us working hard... And I am sure a few of us can understand the sails and bed sheets! Keep up the awesome work!!!0 -
Dan and Jackie, what great NSVs. My NSV is not as cool as pretty underthings (which I am also looking forward to buying), but I am proudly, and comfortably, wearing a size 18 pair of capri pants!! I just want to dance around and make everyone look at my bu....pants...yes, at my pants! LOL0

Woot! Woot! :drinker: :bigsmile:0 -
Since I knew at the outset that losing 219 lbs. would be a long and expensive process given the number of costume changes required, I've been trying not to order clothes more than once every 4 months (and even then I do so online with coupon codes to try and keep the tab down). When I recently put in an order for spring/summer stuff, I purposely ordered a few sizes down, figuring that a few things may not fit initially and that I'd get into them during the summer. I was so excited this morning when I grabbed a new pair of capris for work (not realizing they were the smaller ones) and they fit! Thank goodness for free returns...the bigger stuff will have to go back :-)0

Dan and Jackie= WAY TO GO THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completed my first triathlon last weekend and exceeded all of my goals (1- survive/finish, 2- not last overall (a good 200 below me), 3- not last in age group (about 11 below me), 4- under 2 hours (1:45).
Today the tech at my vet's office commented, as did the deputy at security and a few people around the courhtouse. So yay!0 -
Congratulations to both Emmerin and Brook(ie?) for GREAT NSV's!
I love this thread. It always gives me a boost to read these great successes.0 -
went to the orthopedic dr. and had knee x-rays done. had to walk across the hall in one of those lovely gowns. the regular size one wrapped around me and didn't show my panties to everyone. Yeah!0

Way to go on all the NSVs!
I just realized today while sitting outside that I can now sit in those folding canvas lawn chairs...I'm below the weight limit. That used to embarrass me when we'd visit friends at their RV sites and the man would try to insist that I sit in his chair. There is no comfortable way to tell someone you're too heavy. Now all my friends think I actually prefer sitting at the picnic table.0 -

About half way through the 5+ mile portion of the hike. We had already done a mile in rough terrain at an earlier canyon hike. I survived it, but those who own stock in the makers of Advil should see their stock rise tomorrow. (I'm SORE!)
I still have a way to go in losing the poundage, but a year ago if you told me I'd be doing things like this... I would have never believed you!0 -

This is today's NSV and while it may not make a lot of sense, it's a huge one for me:
Today at a work meeting, my bosses brought a birthday cake for my colleague. Her birthday was a week before mine, which was last week (which she and a number of the bosses knew). I smiled, wished her a happy birthday and did not eat any cake. I also did not eat my (perfectly legitimate IMHO) hurt feelings.0 -
@Dan - What you did was incredible. It takes a fair amount of courage to commit to that kind of a hike.
@brookielaw - That is a huge NSV. Being able to resist in a social setting is a big deal. We're social animals and like to mimic others. We slow down and speed up eating based on what others around us are doing. We tend to match bite for bite. Great job on not eating the cake and keeping things cool. You were justified in having hurt feelings.
This is sorta an NSV and sorta not. I have been having checkup appointments this week. I blew away my endocrinologist with how much weight I'd lost along with my home health nurse. The big one though comes from my perspective. I have to set up yearly goals with my nurse, and I went with continuing weight-loss. I decided within the next year I will lose 70 lbs. This did not intimidate me the way it intimidated them. We heckled over it for a bit as I explained that it's /not/ an unrealistic goal. The goal was set as lose 6 lbs a month for the next 12 months. That goal is the same things as lose 70 lbs in the next 12 months, just worded in a way that is actually more intimidating for me in truth as the expectation is put in place for close to the end of the year as well....anyways. So, the big numbers in the grand scheme of things don't bother me. I am realizing my realistic limits and able to set appropriate goals for them, even if they sound way too big for others.0 -
@Paula - Frame it? As a dire warning? lol
@Brookie - I understand the hurt feelings. The least they could have done was said it was a "monthly birthday celebration" to cover all! Still, you handled it with grace and skill in not carb diving! Good On You!
@Maelyn - I applaud your goal setting. Is there room to reset the goal at 6 months if your losses slow? I bet they would be over the moon if you still lose only 50 to 60 lbs this year. A very respectable loss rate is 1 lb per week and I know you have posted about battles with meds that may impact the loss? Anyway, a great goal to shoot for!
@ All - Thanks for the kudos. I appreciate your support!0 -
Dan! Look at you go! Go. As in disappear! You are melting away!
HOLY WOWZERS!0 -
@Dan - I don't think so. It's a yearly goal setting thing. I can revise my treatment goals for psychiatric care every 3 months, but with Home Health it's just once a year. I'll just have to ignore it when the losses slow down. They're over the moon I've lost as much weight as I have in the last year, though it's only been a few months. The only negative things I got from my endo were that my insulin levels are high-normal, and triglycerides are still high (side effect of medication I'm on).0

NSV - Went recently to a place we had not been in awhile. They seated us in a small two person booth (seated across from each other). . Not only was there plenty of room at my stomach so that I did not feel squished in like a sardine in a can, but I noticed that I could set my large purse beside me on the seat and there was still room left over. Before I started on this journey that purse was delegated to the floor at my feet because there was no room on the seat beside me. :happy:0

Amazing NSV! Keep up the great work0

@MeRoHa - That is exciting! I look forward to the day I can share in the NSV!0

hi everybody! ok, i used to hate aisles.
most aisles are set up for two people to pass, but i always took up the whole aisle. like at the library. if someone came into the aisle i was in, one of us would have to back up because there was no way we could pass each other.
well yesterday, while at the library, i was walking down one of the aisles and a library assistant came into the aisle with one of those large book carts to reshelve the books. she pushed that thing right past me with no problem!!!
we said hi as she passed and then i actually laughed out loud i was so amazed. happy, happy, happy!0 -
So happy for you, Jackie!0
