feeling down...

I don't regret having my surgery and I do know how everyone is different, but I have just seemed to have so many problems since having my RNY. I keep getting kidney stones, I have a herniated disk in my back which is making me walk weird so now my hips hurt when I walk to long or exercise with anything strenuous. I feel like maybe I haven't I haven't lost enough weight but I make sure to get my protein in and try really hard not to drink my calories with teas or juice. Maybe I am just being a Debbie Downer but I just want to know if anyone else has hit a wall and how I can get over it!

I am sorry you have to deal with all of this! I haven't hit any walls or had the obstacles you had, but I do hope things get better for you!

Tabitha, I had the sleeve so my experience and journey are going to be different from yours, but I too have hit walls in the almost 3 years since my surgery. Yes, I said walls, plural. I lose slower than others and I stall more than most. But I'm still losing and still working toward goal. I have arthritis in my lower spine, hips, knees, and feet along with bone spurs in one knee and both heals. Point is, exercising for me is a continual challenge because of pain and injuries, and that is part of why I lose slower than most.

My advice to you is first, don't compare yourself to anyone else. Our weight loss/get healthy journeys are all unique. If you have stalled in your weight loss, look at your food log, go back to when you were losing consistently, and start doing that again. The weight will start coming off again. If it's exercise that's the challenge, do what you can or find something new to you that maybe won't bother your back and hips. Water arobics is supposed to be wonderful because it's no impact, so doesn't hurt the joints but gives a great cardio workout. I have a pilates machine at home I use when I can't walk. Doesn't burn as many calories but really builds the core muscles, which really helps my back and hips a lot. It's also a great arm workout. So maybe a Yoga or Pilates class would be good for you.

Good luck and remember, this is a journey, not a race. You will get to your goal, but it will take time. You can do this after all, look how far you've come already.
