First 1/2 done!

The 1/2 marathon that I've trained for months to participate in is over!!
The weather was good, I got to see my wife and daughters at different points on the course cheering for me ( I took the opportunity to stop and hug and kiss them all).
I had to walk for 2 miles after mile 10 because I had major cramping on my quads just above both knees and I had to stretch because they kept locking up. I was able to jog the rest. I finished in 3:11 (34 minutes faster than I was able to finish that distance in training).
This race was hard on my body, because my body weighs more than it should. My goal for next year is to run it again, only at my goal weight. So now I'll focus on getting back to where I need to be. My goal for next year is to be at goal weight and try to beat that time by at least an hour.

A couple days ago MY FIRST half is finally under my belt! It took me a months to train for it! My main goal was JUST to finish it so my 2:44 time was extremely an achievement! I've done 8 miles no problem BUT the last four was the hardest!
The weather was gorgeous and with the help of my husband during training, it was a day, I will never forget! I'm more sore than I thought I would be but it was worth it! My
next race, I WILL be prepared!!!!!0 -
