TGIF!
What's everybody up to today?
It's my rest day. It's raining & foggy (again). Supposed to see sun & mid to upper 60's tomorrow before it cools off & starts raining again Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.0 -
Hi all!
Thanks for the threadstarters Laura!
Today after lugging both kids to son's tutor, DH picked up lil girl and I ran with the intention of running a partial distance and then some walking, but when I reached the church where I was supposed to loop, I could see the beach at the end of the street and...I'm such a sucker. So I continued to the beach and relaxed there for 10min and then did walk/run interval back. I was amazed how much easier today's run was after a nice (long, but not-too-long) break (it'd been since Monday that I'd run). I actually started pretty fast and strong for a change.
I've really slipped bad with the gym, so gonna hafta hit it this weekend.
Hope everyone's having a good one! TGIF!0 -
Laura, have a nice rest day. What do you have planned for your nice sunny day tomorrow?0

Here's where I stop to 'soak it all in' on a nice comfy bench when I run to the beach--took this pic today, the water was calm. Can you blame me for always heading in the direction of the beach?0

I don't know what I'm doing today. I have to work 4 hours (to noon). I can work 6 hours (to 2 pm) and take 2 less hours of vacation next week. I have freestyle class with the dogs at 3:30 pm. At noon it will be 68F and party cloudy, at 6 pm it will be 77F with thunderstorms likely. I have a 5k race tomorrow.
If I want to run today, I should leave work at noon, go home and run. I think that an easy 5k would all that I should be doing today.
I have so much to do this weekend!! I really don't have time for the race, or any running, but I'm taking it anyway for sanity.
If I work the extra 2 hours I probably won't run. Between the weather, all I have to do, and the race, I can easily talk myself out of it. I will do body conditioning in either case. Not running might not be a bad idea.
Also in the so much to do and upcoming weather front, I might not get in my long run on Sunday. Do you think doing a 5k race Saturday morning, a 5k run Saturday night, and then another 4 mile run on Sunday night would be okay, even though I scheduled (in my own mind) a 7 mile run on Sunday, and no Saturday evening run?
.......
TL;DR: I'm going home and running 5k now. I'm not doing a long run this week, but am going to get in the miles I promised myself with shorter runs that I can fit into my schedule.0 -
Sherry, I can see why the beach calls to you! Glad that you were able to get there today.
Laura, hope you get a nice run in tomorrow before all the rain starts.
Diana, Maureen, and Marla, hope your Friday is going well!0 -
Hello everyone!
My Friday is going well so far. I made it in to town for some much needed groceries and to pick up some Mothers Day gifts. My son is now home from University....has a job for the summer, and so that leaves me without a car at times. Soon....my other son will be home (he has our third car...lol) so I won't be stranded so much - as they will use that between them.
I just finished a 30DS Level 3 workout. I kind of wanted to run, but I really want to put some strength back into my routine so thats what I did. Hopefully i can run tomorrow morning before the rain starts. I think its only suppose to start around noon. I will probably do a few more exercises with my dumbells this afternoon. Feeling those curtsie squats!!
Laura - enjoy your rest day, and I do hope that you get to see some sun before the rain starts. We live in a fog-bank here at times during the summer. I hope not for this summer!
Sherry - yup....I can see why you would like to make that beach-stop! Very nice. Glad that you got an interval run in...suppose to be great for you! I haven't done one of those since I was on my treadmill last.
Donna - I think that your plan to get your miles in with shorter runs will be fine, especially with you being so busy this weekend. It would be so easy to just scrap them althogether, and you're not doing that, so kudos to you! Hope you have a great 5K race tomorrow.0 -
Maureen glad you were able to get some strength in!
Donna I almost never run two days in a row, and for sure wouldn't have the day before or after a race, so I'm the wrong one to offer advice. Last year I had a 5K race while I was doing my 5K-to-10K training and I just substituted that for my long run that week. I hope you have a great time at the race tomorrow and you don't get lost.
Sherry I have a hard time looking away from that photo so I totally understand why you get drawn in. How beautiful! My office is very close to Lake Superior - I can see the lake from my desk, and there's a lakewalk (pedestrian/bike path) that goes for several miles along the lake, so in the summer I enjoy getting out on my lunch or breaks to get in a quick walk. The water is so soothing.0
