Hey guys! Lets face it, when attempting anything new, there is always a point during the journey when one could use a little push. I thought this would be a great way to share how we all stay motivated. This is the first youtube video that inspired me to get out there and push myself beyond what I thought my body was capable of. I hope you enjoy! :flowerforyou:

This is a very short article that pretty much sums up how many calories you need to burn per day in order to lose a pound per week. Obviously, the result may vary per person by a small amount; however, I have found the article to be pretty accurate so far. Sorry guys, looks like there is no way to hyperlink these so you just have to copy and paste into your web browser.

If anyone has ever heard of Joe Cross, then it's probably because you have seen his film, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". Personally, I love this guy's determination to get healthy. If you have never seen it before, I think it is worth watching at least once. He goes through a 60 day juice fast and transforms his body the healthy way. You can watch his entire film (or the short trailer) for free at his website.

A few high school cross country/track runners made a video of "*kitten* Runner's Never Say". I couldn't stop laughing. Hope you like it too!

So, here is a video I did for a program I have participated in and have sponsored for my people as a "wellness coordinator."

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzFGgU1V370

I was just starting my marathon training in 2013 and I had just completed my first 10K in years (my last 10K was run in 1985). My 5K pace was about 35 minutes. I ran my first "official" 5K just a couple of months after this video was shot and won my age group at 28:03. I ran a 5K back in March 2014 and came in second in my age group with a 25:32.

I use Jeff Galloway's run/walk/run program in all but the shortest races. I also use an HRM with iCardio's Digifit program to establish maximum and customized heart rate zones for training and races purposes. A year ago, I could walk a total of 11 miles per day, and could run 3-5 miles per day if I wanted. Today, I walk less, run more, and value rest days for the running.

But the really neat thing is that I can now run a half-marathon just because....no special preparation. Shoes, shorts, socks, hat and go.

    For my races see: http://www.athlinks.com/athletes/gsaunders/Profile#

As a follow-up. I use a Fitbit "One" to track my steps and distances automatically. I have kept my goal set at 20,000 steps per day (roughly 10 miles per day).

My profile is largely open to everyone and can be accessed at
